John Sellers, a British man who has lived in Sweden since childhood and recently married a Swedish citizen, was deported after multiple failed attempts to legalize his stay. Despite living in Sweden for 24 years and having made efforts to apply for citizenship and residency, Swedish authorities rejected his applications, leading to his removal in January. Sellers and his wife are now fighting to reunite, as his deportation has caused emotional distress and disrupted their plans to build a life together. His case highlights concerns over Sweden’s post-Brexit immigration policies and their impact on long-term UK residents.
