Court lifts ban on Gaza families reuniting in the UK
A UK immigration court has quashed a policy that blocked mothers and children in Gaza from reuniting with family members in the UK, ruling the Home Office applied the unsafe journeys policy unlawfully to two families. The families, living in dire conditions in Gaza, sought to reunite with husbands granted refugee status in the UK; the court emphasized the children's best interests and condemned the policy's harsh application. The Home Office plans to appeal and remains committed to biometric requirements, while many families in Gaza continue to face obstacles due to the closed visa centers and ongoing conflict.
