Treasure Island TV adaptation underwhelms
The article criticizes the new six-part adaptation of "Treasure Island," describing it as a poorly executed reimagining that introduces superpowers and exaggerated plot elements. It notes that the show's attempt to modernize and "jazz up" the classic story diminishes the original's adventurous spirit and reduces key characters, like Jim Hawkins, to secondary roles. Despite strong performances, especially from David Oyelowo as Long John Silver, the adaptation is viewed as overly convoluted and lacking in coherence.
