Scientists use AI to help birds recall lost songs
Researchers used a computer-generated version of historic bird songs to study how birds learn and retain their songs. They found that a local rufous-collared sparrow began to imitate a recreated song from the 1960s, suggesting that synthetic recordings could aid in teaching songs to declining bird species. This approach may help conserve species by supporting proper song development, which is crucial for mate attraction and territory defense.
