Doncic's historic numbers
Luka Dončić scored at least 40 points in five of his first eight games this season, including three consecutive games, and had 308 points overall—the strongest start since Michael Jordan scored 303 in 1988-89. His 38.5-point average would rank third in NBA history if sustained, while his career average of 29.37 and his 67 40-point games in 522 appearances are also behind only Wilt Chamberlain and Jordan on the cited measures. In his first 100 games with the Lakers, Dončić scored 3,240 points, averaging 32.4 per game—the highest average in franchise history.
