Aoun: Lebanon-Israel talks separate from Iran-US deal
Lebanese President Josaph Aoun confirmed that the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel are separate from the meetings in Switzerland regarding the Iran-U.S. agreement. He stated that efforts are underway to establish a ceasefire in the south, which includes Israel's withdrawal, the deployment of the army, the return of residents, the release of prisoners, and the commencement of reconstruction. He also mentioned that the designation of model areas is still under discussion awaiting Israel’s approval. Additionally, he commented on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's statement, which put an end to any hesitation regarding Syria’s role in Lebanon. These remarks come after a series of direct American negotiations between Lebanon and Israel in Washington over three days.
