The Media and Communications Commission in Iraq issued a decision to suspend journalist Ahmed Malla Talal and journalist Marwa Hashem from appearing publicly for 90 days, as well as suspending the broadcast of their program "Voice of the People." This came after the Commission considered that Ahmed Malla Talal’s Facebook post regarding the Iraqi national team’s participation in the 2026 World Cup contained an insult to the Iraqi state and violated broadcasting regulations. Additionally, the Commission decided to suspend the program "Voice of the People" on the "Iraq Al-Hadath" channel for the same period due to violations in one of its episodes, requiring the channel to issue a formal apology.
