Integrity uncovers land and loan forgery ring in Diwaniyah
The Federal Integrity Commission has successfully dismantled a serious forgery network that exploited the Directorate of Municipalities, Civil Status, Passports, and Residency in Diwaniyah to steal public funds, acquire land plots, and secured loans illegally. The investigation revealed that the network includes employees and lawyers. They issued 243 forged transactions through which they obtained loans from 12 government banks totaling more than four billion dinars. Additionally, they granted 13 unjustified land plots to individuals outside the province based on forged residency affidavits. The team also seized over 600 forged affidavits and registration copies. The counterfeit documents were used to manipulate courts and government departments, forge identities and seals, and employ electronic visa forgery techniques. The court decided to place a notice of seizure on the involved properties and suspend ownership procedures, while investigations continue to complete the case and take legal action against the violators.
