Musk plans largest chip plant on 9.3M sqm
The TerraFabs project planned by Elon Musk to be established in Texas will cover an area of 9.3 million square meters, making it larger than the world's largest chip manufacturing centers. The goal is to produce high-tech semiconductors to support Tesla and SpaceX products. The project aims to provide a high production capacity capable of supporting over one terawatt of computing annually, with an initial estimated investment exceeding $16.8 billion. The total potential investment could reach up to $120 billion upon completion, generating around 3,000 jobs. The initiative seeks to reduce reliance on external chip suppliers, improve control over production costs and supply chains, and support factories for robotics, Tesla, and space launches. The company is requesting tax incentives to ensure the project's continuity in Texas. TerraFabs represents a significant step forward in developing technological infrastructure and achieving full domestic production of semiconductors.
