Meta Ends 756,000 Child Accounts in Australia
Meta announced the removal of over 750,000 accounts belonging to children under the age of 16 on Instagram and Facebook in Australia, since the implementation of the world's first-of-its-kind ban on minor accounts. Since the start of the enforcement until June, 462,000 accounts were removed from Instagram and 294,000 from Facebook, exceeding the numbers removed by January. This move is part of the company's efforts to comply with Australian law, which it previously opposed, and Australian authorities are considering legal action against the platforms for not taking sufficient measures to adhere to the law.
