Iraqi Manuscripts House catalogs Syriac works after 80 years
The Iraqi Manuscripts House has completed the cataloging of its Syriac manuscripts within its holdings at the National Library. This is considered a milestone, being the first of its kind in approximately 80 years. The cataloging process was carried out by a dedicated team in collaboration with experts in the Syriac language, and it took four months of voluntary effort. The goal was to document the uncategorized manuscripts and enhance researchers' ability to access them. This initiative helps preserve Syriac heritage, raise awareness of it both locally and internationally, and reflects the diversity of Iraqi cultural heritage. It also opens the door to further specialized studies.
