French President Emmanuel Macron faced widespread criticism after photos of him enjoying his summer vacation by the sea were published amid ongoing wildfires in France and rising temperatures. Media outlets circulated images of Macron on a jet ski, riding a flyboard, and laughing while steering a speedboat; pictures also showed his wife Brigitte dressed in summer attire. Opponents criticized Macron's behavior, considering his actions inappropriate given the environmental crises the country faces, and accused him of showing off and ignoring the suffering of the people. Some deputies and politicians argued that it would be better for him to be out in the field helping firefighters rather than on a leisure holiday, while others believed his behavior reflected a lack of sense of responsibility during such critical times.
