Weak Airdefenses Signal Alert
Military researcher and former Brigadier General Ihsan Al-Qaysoun warned of the weakness of Iraq's air defense systems following the end of the international coalition's mission. He confirmed that the country possesses radars to detect aerial targets but lacks the capability to intercept or shoot them down. He described the situation as "a cannon without ammunition," calling for the development of a multi-layered air defense system, enhancing the air force with modern aircraft from France, China, and Turkey, as well as providing interception systems that cover various altitudes and threats. He emphasized that the delay in developing air defenses poses a significant challenge to protecting Iraq's airspace.
