ISIS suppression restores Baghdad-Erbil security talks
The announcement by the Kurdistan Regional Security Agency (Asaysh) about dismantling ISIS cells and arresting 22 of their members in the areas of Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, Banjehwan, Khurmala, and Sirwan recalls the ongoing security threats posed by dormant ISIS cells in the region. Investigations indicate that these cells were trying to reorganize, plant bombs, carry out bombings, monitor security forces, target them, establish connections between cells inside and outside the region, and collect funds to purchase weapons. These security movements underline the strength of intelligence efforts and the continued need for greater coordination between Baghdad and Erbil to confront the threats of extremist groups, especially given the weapons, clothing, and military equipment found in the possession of the suspects.
