Iran Parliament votes electronically on defense candidate
The Iranian Parliament has decided that the vote of confidence for Defense Ministry candidate Mehrdad Akhlagi will be conducted electronically, scheduled for Sunday, October 18th. This comes due to the current exceptional circumstances and marks the first time such a method has been used in the history of the Iranian Parliament. This decision was made after he was nominated by Iranian President Masoud Beheshti, following the assassination of the previous Defense Minister, Aziz Nasir Zadeh, in a joint attack by Israel and the United States approximately seven months ago. Akhlagi is considered a senior official working in the aerospace and aviation industries and is listed on both American and European sanctions lists.
