Ministries deny AIDS transmission and waste abuse
The Ministries of Environment and Health affirm that the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV/AIDS) is not transmitted through water or fish. They emphasize that statements concerning pollution in the Tigris River and the disposal of medical waste focus solely on environmental and health risks, without linking them to virus transmission. The two ministries also noted that medical waste is treated according to approved regulations, and that sewage is transported to treatment plants in Baghdad and across the provinces. They confirmed that it is not discharged into rivers and called for reliance on scientific facts when discussing health and environmental issues.
