Juan Gaspart, the former Barcelona president, launched an attack on Lionel Messi after reports indicated that he refused to participate in a commemorative match at Camp Nou during Joan Laporta's presidency, due to disagreements between them. Gaspart affirmed that Messi is the best in the world, but emphasized that the Catalan club comes above everyone else, urging him not to forget Barcelona's contributions and to return freely to bid farewell to the fans. He mentioned that Messi might have demanded Laporta's resignation to participate in the match, and threatened to boycott it if that proved true. Gaspart also noted that his grandchildren chose the name Lamine Yamal for the club's shirts, reaffirming that Messi is among the greatest football players of all time.
