Iraq launches new nuclear training majors
The Iraqi Atomic Energy Authority announced the establishment of university programs to prepare specialized personnel for peaceful nuclear projects. This is part of plans to reflect the use of nuclear energy in electricity generation and water desalination, in line with the International Atomic Energy Agency’s request to train the necessary cadres to implement these projects. An agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Higher Education to oversee the training of personnel and to submit a request for the creation of specialized departments in nuclear physics at universities. The goal is to strengthen Iraq’s peaceful applications of nuclear energy in water and electricity sectors, with a government initiative to expand the use of nuclear energy in the future.
