Iraq's First TIR Transit from Turkey to UAE
The Iraqi General Customs Authority announced the receipt of its first international transit shipment via the "TIR" system, carried on an Iraqi truck transporting goods from Turkey to the United Arab Emirates through Iraqi territory. This step aims to enhance Iraq's position as a trading corridor connecting regional and international markets, facilitate transit movements, and reduce time and operational costs. The goal is to support economic activity and strengthen non-oil revenue. The initiative is part of efforts to develop the transit sector and improve supply chain efficiency in Iraq.
