UN warns of escalation in Yemen, calls for a comprehensive political process

The United Nations has stated that recent developments in Yemen emphasize the necessity of conducting a comprehensive political process led by Yemenis. It stressed that a lasting solution must be achieved through dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations. It explained that the recent escalation by the parties threatens peace and exacerbates divisions, calling on all sides to de-escalate tensions and negotiate instead of resorting to violence—especially amid the increasing confrontations in the region and the ongoing danger to UN staff held hostage by the Houthis.
