Parliament Discusses "University Law Amendment" Under Dome Today

The Jordanian House of Representatives is discussing an amended draft law of the Jordanian Universities Law for 2026, with the aim of modernizing the higher education sector and facilitating university administration. The amendments include reducing the number of members of the Board of Trustees from 13 to 9 to enhance decision-making efficiency, changing the method of selecting presidents of public universities, and expanding the law's scope to include college and intermediate institutions, in order to link higher education with labor market needs and improve its quality. Additionally, another draft law related to the real estate market is being discussed, aimed at strengthening oversight and promoting digital transformation within the Land and Survey Department.
