US Delegation Boycotts Security Council Meeting
The U.S. delegation withdrew from a United Nations Security Council meeting when the French ambassador began speaking, protesting French remarks that compared the United States to North Korea and Russia regarding human rights. The U.S. assistant ambassador expressed his disapproval of Paris's stance, asserting that his country remains the global model of freedom, and emphasized that the withdrawal was a rare step taken in response to what was viewed as a position contradictory to the principles of cooperation and respect among members.
