Recently, social media platforms circulated an old video showing an Egyptian girl whose phone suddenly caught fire without any clear reason, amid growing concerns related to the country’s record-high temperatures. The video depicts the girl experiencing an unexpected ignition of flames from her phone during normal use, which resulted in minor injuries. It is worth noting that such incidents are often linked to the "thermal runaway" phenomenon in lithium-ion batteries, which can occur due to battery damage, the use of non-original chargers, exposure to high temperatures, especially when devices are used repeatedly under hot conditions or subjected to shocks. Studies indicate that increased phone temperatures caused by these factors can lead to internal damage or even explosions, particularly as the battery’s efficiency declines with age. This highlights the importance of taking precautions, such as not leaving the phone plugged in for long periods, avoiding heavy application use while charging, and preventing exposure to high temperatures—measures to protect against similar risks.
