Government allocates five million dinars to support Petra's tourism
The Council of Ministers approved a package of strategic decisions to support the tourism sector in Petra Province, aimed at addressing current economic challenges and ensuring the sustainability of facilities and their employees. The government has allocated five million dinars to implement these decisions, benefiting more than 1,600 workers. These include supporting workers' wages by covering 50% of salaries insured under social security until the end of next year, as well as providing a 35% subsidy for employees in the international hotel chains. The decisions also involve reinstating the jobs of 280 workers who had been suspended, and offering financial and tax relief by postponing loan installments and reducing interest rates. Additionally, tax payments and electricity and water bills will be scheduled with full interest exemptions, all aimed at enhancing the sustainability of tourism establishments, expanding the market, and increasing visitors' length of stay.
