Star Wars Returns in Nuclear Form
The article indicates that Russia may be heading toward resuming the militarization of space by developing technology to deploy nuclear weapons there, which violates the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 that prohibits placing weapons in space. These threats pose a significant risk to global security, especially with warnings that Russia and its adversaries might push the world toward a space nuclear conflict, similar to the events of Pearl Harbor. Additionally, there are suggestions to develop intelligence systems to detect the presence of nuclear weapons in space, amid major powers increasing their defense spending on space defense. This trend raises the likelihood of escalating competition and conflicts beyond Earth.
