In a statement, Reserve Brigadier General Dror Shalom, former head of the Research Division at the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate, stated that Israel has achieved limited operational and strategic successes. He argued that Israel has failed to secure a decisive strategic victory at the regional level, as factions like Hamas still exist, Hezbollah has not disarmed, and Iran is negotiating with the United States over the Strait of Hormuz rather than the nuclear issue. He criticized the lack of a clear plan regarding Gaza and called for alternative options to Hamas rule, along with improving international relations to restore Israel to a stronger strategic position. Additionally, he warned about the absence of an alternative plan following the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. He advocated for establishing an official committee to review previous decisions and plans concerning the Palestinian and Iranian issues, emphasizing the importance of investing in young minds to enhance national security.
