Al-Nabid Al-Raqib urges Legal Committee to dissolve during real estate law debate
During the discussion of the Real Estate Ownership Bill, Deputy Ahmed Al-Raqab called for the dissolution of the Legal Committee in the House of Representatives. This came after their decision to add the term "railways" to the definition of roads, which allows for the expropriation of a quarter of the lands passing through the railways without compensating their owners. Al-Raqab considered this measure to infringe upon citizens' rights and urged the committee to dissolve itself. Meanwhile, Deputy Ali Al-Khalailah expressed surprise at his request, and other parliamentarians discussed this proposal, sparking controversy over the committee’s authority.
