Rise in soldier suicides
A report by Haaretz newspaper revealed that the number of Israeli soldiers who committed suicide this year reached 16 cases during active service. There have been high rates of suicide among both regular and reservist soldiers after graduation or during their leave, with recent incidents at military bases in the south and Ramat Hasharon resulting in the deaths of two female recruits. The increase in suicide cases, which has reached its highest level in 15 years, is linked to psychological and military pressures caused by ongoing war. Thousands of soldiers suffer from mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder without receiving proper treatment, reflecting a deep psychological crisis within the Israeli occupation army.
