Romanian sheep exit Jordan, Spanish meats return
The Jordanian Livestock Breeders Association has announced the suspension of live sheep imports from Romania after cases of Bluetongue disease were detected among the sheep there, as a precautionary measure to protect the livestock. The kingdom is working to provide alternative meat sources, including Spanish meats and Syrian kids (young goats), to compensate for the sector and meet market needs, with an expected arrival of around 100,000 heads of Syrian kids soon. The price of a kilogram of processed Spanish meat is expected to range between 9 and 10 Jordanian dinars, aimed at increasing supply and stabilizing the local market.
