Gaza faces 1.6 million in risk of famine
The Gaza Strip is facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to the blockade and escalating military confrontations, with an estimated 1.6 million people at risk of famine and malnutrition, including 74,000 children and 25,000 pregnant women suffering from serious health complications. The crisis is worsening due to shortages of medicines and medical supplies, as well as the closure of roads, threatening the collapse of the healthcare system, amid rising rates of epidemic diseases and deterioration of emergency and ambulance services. Medical equipment and nursing staff are unable to provide adequate care, while cancer patients and dialysis patients are being deprived of treatment, leading to daily deaths resulting from shortages of medicines and vital medical resources. International organizations are calling for urgent intervention to open border crossings and provide medical aid to save lives, as ongoing Israeli escalation continues to cause hundreds of thousands of casualties and widespread destruction of the sector.
