Australia sues Telegram over terror content
Australia is demanding that the "Telegram" company pay a potential fine of up to AUD 54.6 million due to its failure to combat terrorist-related content. The internet regulatory authority filed a lawsuit against the messaging platform for violating its obligations by not acting appropriately upon receiving reports of violent and terrorist content from Australian users, as 10 out of 12 suspected items remained unaddressed for 20 days. This move is part of Australia's efforts to combat digital threats, following Russian accusations that Telegram allowed the Ukrainian security agency to use its platform to recruit collaborators, along with international arrest warrants issued against the company's founder, Pavel Durov.
