Two plane crashes occur today
On July 31, 1992, the world experienced two devastating air disasters in a single day, as two large airplanes crashed under different circumstances. The first was Thai Airways Flight 311 bound for Nepal, which collided with a tall mountain in the Himalayas while approaching Kathmandu Airport, resulting in the death of all 113 onboard. The investigation attributed the crash to a temporary technical malfunction in the navigation systems, along with language problems between the crew and air traffic controllers, and a lack of sufficient experience, all of which contributed to the collision. The second was a Chinese domestic Yak-42 aircraft in Nanjing, which lost its balance and crashed due to a malfunction in the speed measurement instruments, killing 108 out of 126 people on board. Similar aviation disasters have recurred over time, offering lessons such as the importance of improving pilot training, developing advanced warning systems, and enhancing coordination between crew and air traffic control, to ensure the highest safety standards and reduce risks in future flights.
