Settlers have set up tents in Wadi Al-Zaytoun area northwest of Ramallah, with the aim of establishing a new settlement outpost on the lands of the village of Umm al-Shaqha. If this outpost is established, the number of outposts surrounding the village will rise to six, amid increasing attacks and land seizures by settlers on Palestinian territory. Since October 2023, settlers have established around 200 settlement outposts over the course of a thousand days. Approximately 750,000 settlers live in the West Bank across 156 settlements and 360 outposts, with ongoing assaults aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians. The United Nations and most of the international community regard these policies as illegal, hindering the prospects for a two-state solution. At the same time, settler attacks in the area continue to escalate amidst the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
