Oil prices rose by about 1% on Monday, as hopes for a breakthrough in negotiations between the United States and Iran waned, and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz slowed down, increasing geopolitical risks in the market. Brent crude reached approximately $89.40 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate increased to $82.83. Last week, oil prices had jumped over 5% due to attacks on tankers in the strait. Data showed a slowdown in shipping movement through the strait after the UAE accused Iran of attacking an Adnoc-operated vessel, with uncertainty still remaining regarding the resumption of negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
