Witnesses Detail Ramesses Massacre
On the anniversary of the Ramses Massacre that occurred 13 years ago, eyewitnesses recalled the details of the bloody events that resulted in the deaths of approximately 210 protesters and the injury of around 1,500 by security forces' gunfire during the "Friday of Rage 2013" demonstrations, following the dispersal of Rabaa Al-Adawiya and Al-Nahda sit-ins. The witnesses confirmed that an security deception led to the massacre when masked armed men entered the square and opened fire, prompting security forces to respond with gunfire and slaughter protesters in a bloody massacre. Testimonies also revealed collusion by thugs and the tightening of restrictions on protesters, including the siege of Al-Fath Mosque and the transfer of the injured and corpses to hospitals, with harsh prison sentences issued to those detained.
