Ex-Chadian PM Suggests Unity Govt Post-Release
The former Prime Minister of Chad and leader of the "Change Makers" party, Sokhsey Masra, has completed his prison term following a presidential amnesty issued by President Mohamed Idriss Déby. His first appearance after his release touched on the idea of forming a "unity government" and a "political truce" lasting five years to promote stability, with a call for equal participation between Christians and Muslims, women and men, in order to build a sustainable political project. Masra confirmed that the amnesty does not grant him the right to run for office, and emphasized that the ball is now in the presidential court. He pointed out that his goal is for Chad to become more united and stable in the coming period.
