Plan to restore historic Kerak Castle

All eyes are on the city of Karak as the start date for restoring the historic city wall approaches, following its partial collapse several months ago. The Parliamentary Tourism and Antiquities Committee confirmed the existence of official government commitments to resume the project and rehabilitate the site before winter, after a prolonged pause and direct government efforts to overcome obstacles. The plan includes reinforcing the remaining sections and addressing drainage issues that caused the collapse, with the implementation of a new engineering vision to ensure the wall's sustainability and protect it from further deterioration. The project aims to preserve the national heritage and prepare it to welcome visitors, in coordination among relevant parties to ensure work proceeds according to the scheduled timeline.
