The article focused on the Jordanian House of Representatives' discussion of the Local Administration Law for 2026. The debate was resumed on the law's provisions after 12 articles out of a total of 70 were approved. The law addresses the organization of municipal councils and governorates, the powers of municipalities, urban planning, as well as regulations governing the travel of heads and members of local councils. An amendment was approved allowing the municipal council to select the municipality director from the top three candidates based on efficiency and transparency standards, alongside regulations for the travel of council members outside the country for official missions and training. It is expected that passing this law will improve the management of local affairs and lead to a qualitative shift in municipal work.
