Bahrain temporarily releases detainees in political cases
Bahraini authorities temporarily released 64 prisoners from Jau Prison, most of them political detainees, after they completed the first phase of the "Open Prisons" program and transferred them to Hamala area to complete the second phase. This measure is part of a wide security campaign that began following the escalation of regional tensions since the outbreak of war between the United States and Iran in February. Bahrain has arrested over 300 people on charges related to war activities or participation in protests, and has issued life sentences for those accused of cooperating with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
