The news report clarifies that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration, Walid Al-Masri, confirmed there are no plans to rely on specialized companies to collect funds from citizens on behalf of the municipalities. He pointed out that the Local Administration Law draft permits contractors or obligated parties to manage and collect revenues from projects operated by municipalities, such as traffic violations, waste fees, and revenues from central markets. He emphasized that the purpose of this provision is to strengthen partnerships with the private sector and enable municipalities to expand their investments, particularly in projects like slaughterhouses and waste management. This is to be done while maintaining the current mechanisms for collecting routine fees. The approach includes outsourcing the management of certain projects and revenue collection related to them to promote development and generate additional resources for the municipalities, without allocating this to directly collect routine payments from citizens.
