A medical team from the Pediatric Surgery Department at Royal Medical Services, led by Colonel Dr. Waseem Al-Mufleh, successfully performed the first esophageal repair on a newborn baby, who was just one day old and weighed 2.5 kilograms. The procedure was carried out using minimally invasive surgical endoscopy through three small incisions, eliminating the need for open surgery. This operation is highly advanced in terms of technique and precision and is considered the first of its kind in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, reflecting ongoing progress in the Royal Medical Services' pediatric surgical capabilities. Following the surgery, the child's condition was monitored in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and his health steadily improved. He was discharged in good condition, although close monitoring and support from high-frequency ventilator devices were necessary. This achievement demonstrates the level of teamwork and coordination among the medical staff to ensure the child's stability.
