The Dubai Civil Court ordered a taxi driver and his company to pay damages of two million dirhams to a man who sustained permanent disabilities following an accident that occurred while the driver was attempting to force him out of his vehicle. The incident took place at night when the driver refused to transport the victim, then accelerated quickly, resulting in the victim falling and suffering a skull fracture, facial deformity, loss of both smell and taste, as well as seizures and ongoing physical and psychological damage. The court confirmed the taxi company's liability for the damages, as it was operating the driver at the time of the accident, and upheld the criminal ruling that sentenced him to three months in prison and deportation from the country. The court evaluated the compensation amount based on a forensic report, taking into account the plaintiff’s contribution to the incident, and affirmed that both parties are jointly responsible for paying the damages.
