Samir Al-Rifai to lead Medical Sciences Board
The Board of Education and Human Resources Development has decided to establish the Board of Trustees for the Kingdom University of Medical Sciences for a four-year term starting from August 30, 2026. The board is chaired by former Prime Minister Samir Zaid Rifa’i. It includes experts from various universities, medical fields, and financial sectors, with the aim of supporting the university's development and completing its academic system to ensure the commencement of studies for the first batch of medical students in 2027. The university offers a Doctor of Medicine program in partnership with University College London (UCL), which spans six years and grants two degrees. The program is based on an innovative and integrated curriculum that combines medical sciences, clinical training, and scientific research, supported by advanced technology to enhance education. Its goal is to prepare a new generation of physicians with high-level competencies to keep pace with global health developments. The university includes a comprehensive medical center and a university hospital, and preparations are currently underway for the initial admission planned for September 2027.
