Bahrain Declines Muscat Meeting Over Iran
The article discusses Bahrain's refusal to participate in the upcoming regional meeting in Muscat regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran convened with the participation of Gulf littoral states. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that it will not join any meetings involving Iran until diplomatic relations between the two countries are restored. They justified this stance by expressing concerns over security repercussions linked to regional confrontations. The ministry also pointed out that any arrangements concerning navigation in the strait should be based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of 1982 and must guarantee the right of innocent passage for all ships in a non-discriminatory manner. Bahrain maintains its commitment to dialogue and legal solutions to ensure regional security and the safety of maritime routes.
