The article addressed a controversy sparked by the former Deputy Mayada Shreim's leadership at one of Jordan's tribal gatherings. Opinions varied regarding a woman's ability to participate in community resolutions in accordance with customs and traditions. Some saw this as a sign of women's potential in reform efforts, while others viewed it as a breach of longstanding norms and customs. Shreim clarified that she intervened to help resolve a family dispute and provide aid to a young man in need, emphasizing that her actions did not exceed traditional boundaries. Conversely, Sheikh Abdul Karim Salama Al-Hawyan stressed the importance of protecting tribal customs and traditions, asserting that each situation has its appropriate people. This reignited the debate over the extent of women's participation in tribal roles in Jordan.
