Egyptian band causes controversy over Saddam and Obama photo
The first concert of the Cairoki band in Baghdad sparked widespread controversy after an edited image emerged, showing a composite of the half face of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein with the half face of former American President Barack Obama, within the visual material accompanying the performances. Iraqi security forces denied raiding the concert or arresting the members, confirming that the investigation was solely an official inquiry into the content of the displayed material, and that no activity aimed at glorifying the former regime or promoting its symbols was established. The concert took place on the evening of September 10, marking the Egyptian band's first appearance in Iraq after a previous postponement. However, the controversy over the image overshadowed the discussion about the event itself.
