Hormuz Strait remains closed per Iran-Oman deal
According to an Iranian source, the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened under the Iranian-Omani understanding, as Iran and Oman agreed on new routes for ships entering and exiting the strait. These routes include a restriction on the southern passage despite America's insistence on reopening it. The agreement states that the entry route must be entirely through Iranian territorial waters, and the exit route should be partially within Iranian waters. The reopening of the strait depends on the United States fulfilling Iran's conditions, amid preparations for a Muscat-based meeting to discuss the outcomes with Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
