A local deputy in Tunisia proposed imposing a fine of 2,000 Tunisian dinars on anyone who uses obscene or violent language in public, with the aim of reducing the spread of insults and verbal violence, especially in front of children, in cafes, and educational institutions. The proposal seeks to protect children from continuous exposure to vulgar words, emphasizing that upbringing also takes place in the public domain, not just at home and school. The initiative outlines punitive and educational measures, with particular focus on cases that occur in front of children. Some countries, such as France, Australia, and Canada, already rely on similar sanctions to combat this phenomenon.
