Jordan will witness a rare astronomical event tomorrow: the transit of Venus behind the Moon for a duration of 1 hour and 24 minutes. This occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and Venus, temporarily obscuring the planet from view. The phenomenon begins at 12:47 PM Amman time, with Venus fully hidden by 12:49 PM. It starts to reappear at 2:13 PM and is fully visible again at 2:15 PM, resulting in approximately 1 hour and 24 minutes of total obscuration. It is recommended to use appropriate optical instruments, such as telescopes and binoculars, and to ensure clear skies, as observing with the naked eye during the daytime is difficult. This event is scientifically significant because it allows precise measurements that can help study the terrain of the lunar limb. It is essential to avoid looking directly at the Sun through optical devices without a proper solar filter to prevent eye damage.
