A traffic accident is considered a work injury under the Social Security Law if two main conditions are met: firstly, the accident occurs while the worker is commuting to or from work, whether walking or riding; secondly, the route taken is the usual one without any unjustified deviation. It is also required that the incident occurs within the period from the place of residence—whether permanent or temporary—to the workplace and vice versa, with the possibility of considering emergency circumstances such as road closures or exceptional congestion. The relevant institution verifies whether the conditions are satisfied to classify the incident as a work injury and provides the appropriate insurance coverage accordingly.
